The only school in Tokyo and Yokohama where all instructors have university degrees in guitar.
You can learn guitar in Japanese as well as English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian!!!
At The American Guitar Academy of Tokyo and Yokohama you can learn the guitar in different languages with instructors and students from all over the world. All of our teachers have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in guitar and some have Masters and Ph.D. degrees, ensuring that our students receive the highest quality guitar lessons in Tokyo and Yokohama. Whether you want training for university music school auditions, or to learn today’s popular songs, or just want to try something new and exciting, we can provide you with the instruction you need.
Can’t read music? No worries!
We welcome everybody from beginner to intermediate and advanced levels.
Beginner students
Everybody’s a beginner at first. We can start from the beginning by teaching you how to hold the guitar, how to play single notes and strum chords, as well as how to read music. After 3 months you’ll be able to play some easy popular songs.
Intermediate students
Students who have played before, have been playing on their own for a while, or those who want to try different styles, let us help you get to the next level.
Advanced students
We also welcome students who want to become professional musicians as well as those who want to perfect their skills after years of independent learning!
Lessons for all ages
The earlier, the better. Through learning how to play the guitar and how to read music at an early age children will learn that anything is possible if they try.
They can also learn foreign languages with instructors from different parts of the world while learning guitar.
We also offer lessons online!

The American Guitar Academy offers lessons in almost every style such as rock and roll, pop, folk, blues, R&B, metal, funk, jazz, classical, flamenco, tango, and much more.
You can learn on an electric, a steel string acoustic, or a classical guitar. Ukulele and bass lessons are also available!

This letter of thanks is long overdue.
When I met you, I was so excited to pick up guitar again. Excited, because I found a really good academy and sincere teachers and mentors, so it meant that my music life was reborn.
I had given up playing guitar and music for so many years that I needed to give myself a challenge, and I am forever grateful that I did thanks to TAGA. With skill, love, and humor you taught me how to play the guitar and to love playing guitar. You opened up a world of beautiful music to me.
I think, in my third semester in TAGA, around six learning weeks, I knew that I was ready, and I attempt the Grade 8 examination - in so a short period. I got unexpectedly good results and feedback from Trinity as attached.
