Born in New York, raised in Japan, Winton White is a composer of multiple publications with the versatility of writing for orchestral instruments, vocal ensembles, and film. After graduating from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, he began classical vocal training at the age of 28, immediately launching his career as a freelance vocalist in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Winton gradually became a regular countertenor/tenor for the biggest cathedrals, including Grace Cathedral SF. As a bass guitarist, Winton has performed in various styles from folk, blues, jazz, hip hop, latin rock, and church music.
Winton has a bachelor’s in tuba performance from Biola University and a masters in music composition from San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Education has always been a part of Winton’s professional career as a musician. He has taught private lessons in tuba, bass guitar, children’s piano, and music theory since 2002. Winton was also invited as a composition lecturer at Biola University and Point Loma Nazarene University. Still active as a singer and bass guitarist after moving back to Japan, Winton continues performing on stages in Yokohama and Yokosuka as well as live houses in Tokyo performing rock, funk, and jazz.
