Rivonne (Vocal)


Born in Detroit, Michigan, Rivonne has been an active musician since the age of five. While in high school she studied voice and harp performance with the world-renowned harpist, Patricia Terry-Ross. She attended Northwestern University’s Music Institute for gifted young musicians directed by Robert Harris. She entered Michigan State University where she studied Music Education. During her time there, she studied with opera performers Anne Nispel and Harland Jennings. Later she made her first appearance on the opera stage for Mozart’s Don Giovanni.Rivonne

She began a children’s choir at the Black Child and Family Institute in Lansing, Michigan. During her time at Michigan State University, she studied with the famous jazz vocalist Sunny Wilkinson. She was the soprano section leader of the choir and featured soloist at St. Stephen’s Community Church in Lansing, MI. The band was lead by the outstanding jazz bassist Rodney Whitaker. Her latest stage performance was as an actor and singer in Jim Crow’s Tears.  She participated in a Japanese televised singing competition Nodojiman the World competing against 9 other contestants and was the declared winner. Currently Rivonne resides in Kawasaki. She is continuing to enjoy her life with music and active on the stage in Japan her experiences there.  The American Guitar Academy is proud to have her as part of our team!
