Born in the UK, Carl graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London with First class honours. His ‘sparkling technique and amiable musicality that radiates warmth’ (Gramophone) have delighted audiences around the world.

Winner of the Julian Bream Prize and the Ivor Mairants Award (for jazz on the classical guitar), his performances in a wide variety of genres are evidence of his exceptional versatility. As a classical guitarist, he has performed concerti such as Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with leading orchestras and was a member of TETRA guitar quartet. However, he has also appeared with jazz giants such as Tim Garland (Chick Corea & The Vigil) and played electric guitar with London Sinfonietta. He has toured internationally as a duo with flamenco guitar virtuoso Eduardo Niebla.

Carl has four highly contrasting, critically acclaimed CDs to his name and has appeared on TV and radio many times. In 2013 he was made an Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.

Carl has over 15 years experience of teaching guitar to people of all ages and abilities. His arrangements and other didactic materials have been published by leading international publishers. The American Guitar Academy is proud to have him as part of our team!
